After losing her mother a few years ago, Amber Mark spent time travelling the world vising Thailand, Nepal, India, Berlin and Miami. Having returned to her native New York, she stunned us with the genre-blending ‘Lose My Cool’, which had elements of jazz, R&B and soul. Mark is now back with ‘Can You Hear Me?’, a much poppier number which shows another string to her impressive bow. Don’t be fooled by the track's upbeat feel - with lyrics such as ‘Is this all some sort of a test, feel this emptiness in my chest / Are you here or just in my head’, it seems that Mark is channeling her grief through songwriting.
